The Kansas Genealogical Society Library is located in the Village Square Mall; 2601 Central Avenue, Lower Level, Suite 17, in Dodge City, Kansas. The Library is accessible by both elevator and escalator. 

You will be greeted by a librarian and asked to sign the register. The librarian can help you with any questions you might have.   The Library Catalog is maintained both on cards and computer database.  The Catalog can be searched on this website.    The Library holdings include:    Book and Manuscript collections of over 15,000 titles including: Family Genealogies, Military, Immigration, Cemetery, Bible and Vital Records from Kansas, other states and some International records. The microfilm and microfiche collections exceed 1,000 rolls of film and an extensive collection of fiche. A large collection of CDs (Ancestry, Family Treemaker, Heritage Quest, etc) is also available.   The obituary collection includes obituaries of more than 300,000 persons and is ongoing. The collection is indexed and computer searchable.   KGS subscribes to many periodicals and exchanges periodicals with over fifty societies.

Normal business hours:

Thursday through Friday — 1:30 to 5:00 PM
First and Third Saturdays of the month — 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

We are closed Monday-Wednesday.

Holiday Hours:

We are closed: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and 2 weeks during Christmas.

We are closed in the event of bad weather. If you are doubt if we are open, please call the Library. 

Also, our volunteers are almost all senior citizens so there are times when no one is available due to unforeseen circumstances.  Again, it is a good idea to call the library during open hours to check if someone is manning the library.
