Kansas Genealogy Library
The Kansas Genealogical Society, Incorporated, was formed as a nonprofit corporation in 1958, for the purpose of: Creating and fostering an interest in genealogy; preserving genealogical, biographical, historical and educational data relating to the ancestry of members and the founders of our country.
From these beginnings KGS has established and maintains an extensive library holding more than 15,000 books and manuscripts; thousands of vital records, cemetery records and census records on hard copy, as well as microfilm, microfiche and computer databases. Our primary focus is on records of the State of Kansas, however, records, books and manuscripts of national and international interest are included.

The Kansas Genealogical Society Library, co-located with the Kansas Society Daughters of the American Revolution Library, is located in the Village Square Mall; 2601 Central Avenue, Lower Level, Suite 17, in Dodge City, Kansas. The Library is accessible by both elevator and escalator.

Normal business hours:
Thursday through Friday — 1:30 to 5:00 PM
First and Third Saturdays of the month — 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM
We are closed Monday-Wednesday.
We are closed: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and 2 weeks during Christmas.
We are closed in the event of bad weather. If you are doubt if we are open, please call the Library.
Also, our volunteers are almost all senior citizens so there are times when no one is available due to unforeseen circumstances. It is a good idea to call the library during open hours to check if someone is manning the library.
